বর্তমান বিশ্ব রাজনীতির দৃশ্যপটে BRICS (ব্রাজিল, রাশিয়া, ভারত, চীন, দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা) জোট একটি বিকল্প শক্তি হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশ করছে। ২০০৬ সালে গঠিত এই গোষ্ঠীটি ক্রমাগত বিস্তৃত হচ্ছে এবং বিশ্বে পশ্চিমা আধিপত্যের বিরুদ্ধে একটি ভারসাম্য আনতে চাচ্ছে। BRICS দেশগুলোর সম্মিলিত জিডিপি এখন বিশ্বের এক বড় অংশ দখল করে রেখেছে এবং জনসংখ্যার দিক থেকেও এরা বিশ্বের প্রভাবশালী অংশ।

ব্রিকস-এর মূল উদ্দেশ্য হলো অর্থনৈতিক সহযোগিতা, রাজনৈতিক সংহতি, এবং বিশ্বব্যবস্থায় উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলোর কণ্ঠস্বরকে শক্তিশালী করা। এই গোষ্ঠী বিশ্ব ব্যাংক ও IMF-এর বিকল্প হিসেবে ‘নতুন উন্নয়ন ব্যাংক’ (NDB) প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে, যা উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলোকে ঋণ ও আর্থিক সহায়তা দিতে সাহায্য করে।

বিশ্ব রাজনীতিতে ব্রিকস-এর প্রভাব স্পষ্টভাবে দেখা যাচ্ছে যখন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন কিছু বিষয়ে অবস্থান নেয়, ব্রিকস তার নিজস্ব অবস্থান উপস্থাপন করে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, ইউক্রেন যুদ্ধ, ইসরাইল-ফিলিস্তিন ইস্যু বা জলবায়ু সংকট নিয়ে ব্রিকস রাষ্ট্রগুলোর দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি প্রায়শই পশ্চিমা রাষ্ট্রগুলোর চেয়ে ভিন্ন।

বর্তমানে ব্রিকস জোটে নতুন সদস্য যুক্ত করার আলোচনা চলছে, যাতে সৌদি আরব, ইরান, আর্জেন্টিনা, মিশরসহ আরও দেশ যুক্ত হতে চায়। যদি এই সম্প্রসারণ ঘটে, তাহলে এটি হবে একটি শক্তিশালী অ-পশ্চিমা জোট, যা বৈশ্বিক রাজনীতি ও অর্থনীতিকে নতুন রূপ দিতে পারে।

তবে, এই জোটের মধ্যে কিছু অন্তর্দ্বন্দ্বও রয়েছে। যেমন ভারত ও চীনের সীমান্ত দ্বন্দ্ব, রাশিয়া ও অন্যান্য সদস্যদের রাজনৈতিক মতবিরোধ ইত্যাদি। ফলে এই জোটকে কার্যকরভাবে পরিচালনা করার জন্য পারস্পরিক আস্থা ও কূটনৈতিক দক্ষতা প্রয়োজন।

অতএব, ব্রিকস এখন আর কেবল একটি অর্থনৈতিক জোট নয়, এটি একটি কৌশলগত জোট হিসেবে বিশ্বের নজর কাড়ছে। এর ভবিষ্যৎ নির্ভর করছে এই জোট কতটা ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে কাজ করতে পারে এবং কীভাবে বিশ্বব্যবস্থার সংস্কারে ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে তার উপর।
